Sleepless in Portland

I'm drafting this post on Sunday, which is normal, except today I'm a little sleepy from hosting a birthday party sleepover for Child #1. Instead of my normal post here's a countdown based on Child #1's special day.

1   = Number of children who threw up 30 minutes before party and couldn't come.

2   = Injuries requiring an ice pack.

3   = Tubes of hair mascara used to highlight each other's hair in colors of blue, hot pink and gold.

4   = Amount of times the game Vampires Rise was played.

5   = Number of pizzas seven hungry children can devour for dinner.

6   = Average hours slept by anyone in the Garth household on Saturday night.

7   = Total children in attendance

8   = Average number of toppings on each ice cream sundae.

9   = Amount of times I predict each child in attendance will beg their parents for a hamster.

10 = Approximate number of times each child slid down the basement stairs in a sleeping bag.

11 = Today's date. Child #1's birthday and her age making it, according to her, a 'Golden Birthday'!

Sliding down the basement stairs in a sleeping bag - hilarious! Hey, it kept them occupied, didn't it?

Alex, it was fun until ice became necessary.

Connie, lots of smiles.

Allie, it's such a cool game.

Barbara, yes. Lots of fun memories now that I'm more well-rested :)

Michael, you're always welcome to help plan and run birthdya parties chez moi.

Thanks Joanne!

So funny. Thankfully, my daughter said after the party "I wouldn't want a hamster - too rat-like...and alot of work". Laziness wins again.

Just be grateful that one child threw up 30 minutes before the party and not 30 minutes into it!!!

And I'm so honored to know WHTD was one of the presents. :D I hope she enjoys it!

Wow! the count down list was pretty extensive...and the triple 11 things is pretty cool. Happy B-Day #1.

Now I wished I had thought of stair-surfing in a sleeping bag when I as a kid. I can't believe I didn't!!

You got 6 hours of sleep? I'd say that was pretty good.

Loved the list.
(Especially the sleeping bags down the basement stairs!)
I have an eleven year old too.

Sounds like it was a fun party.

You're supposed to use a sleeping bag? That would have saved me a lot of rug burns on the back. But we were boys, and chicks dig scars. So they say.

I suspect part of what will make this a wonderful memory in years to come is 'Mom's' input in the festivities. ...did you think, jusst for a moment, of siding donw the bannister, yourself?
